Fire Tears Through Commercial Building In Glassell Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - A massive structure fire tore through a commercial building Monday in the Glassell Park area.

About 150 firefighters were dispatched to battle the fire burning at the two-story building in the 3500 block of North San Fernando Road, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Flames could be seen burning through the building's roof just before 6 p.m.

CBSLA's Jeff Nguyen reported Monday night that fire crews were concerned that a wall next to a power pole would collapse. Earlier a number of power lines clipped and fell onto the building.

The building is a party supply rental business.

There were a number of people inside. Luckily all of them got out safely.

There was also concern that the fire could spread to a medical supply business next door where there is a number of oxygen tanks.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
