Clif Bar Recalls 3 Energy Bars Over Listeria Concerns

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Clif Bar & Company has voluntarily recalled three varieties of their energy bars due to concerns of possible listeria contamination.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the California-based company issued a nationwide recall Thursday in an abundance of caution after receiving reports that sunflower kernels distributed by their supplier, SunOpta, may have been contaminated with the bacteria.

The following flavors are affected by the recall:

— Nuts & Seeds energy bar: all pack configurations with "best by" date ranges starting June 8, 2016, through Jan. 21, 2017.

— Sierra Trail Mix energy bar: all pack configurations with "best by" date ranges starting June 5, 2016, through March 24, 2017.

— Mojo Mountain Mix trail mix bar: all pack configurations with "Best by" date ranges starting June 16, 2016, through Feb. 2, 2017.

There have been no reports of illness.

Anyone who may have purchased affected products are urged to throw them away.
