Cleanup Effort Underway After 3 Snakes Reportedly Found At Van Nuys School
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A San Fernando Valley elementary school may have some unwanted guests slithering onto its campus.
CBS2/KCAL9's Randy Paige reports three rattlesnakes have been found in the last two weeks at Valerio Street Elementary in Van Nuys, according to officials.
Parents were notified after the small snakes were found, according to a LAUSD spokesperson.
Crews with the LAUSD Office of Maintenance and Operations have been cleaning up the site. The effort is being overseen by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, officials said.
Animal services personnel responded to a call on Oct. 15 at Valerio Elementary and retrieved a rattlesnake in a bucket, according to Animal Services spokesman Mark Salazar. The snake was later killed, Salazar said.
Animal control officials were working to confirm the discovery of two more snakes at the school.
Brackel Moreteleno, who says his daughter is a student at Valerio Elementary, said a message left by the school's principal after the alleged incidents has left him worried.
