Classes Canceled At Community College After Potential Explosive Reported
RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Classes were canceled Thursday at a community college in the Inland Empire after someone reported seeing a person with an explosive device, possibly in a backpack.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies swarmed Chaffey College's Rancho Cucamonga campus for possible explosives but nothing suspicious was found.
A Chaffey spokesperson told KCAL9's Tom Wait a shelter for students was in place at 5885 Haven Avenue.
A command post was set up on the northeast end of the campus.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., Chaffey College posted a message to its Twitter account stating all remaining classes for the day had been canceled.
Due to a threat on the Rancho Cucamonga Campus ALL classes scheduled today, Thursday, August 21, 2014 after 3:30 pm have been CANCELLED.

Around 3:15 p.m., sheriff's deputies began clearing the campus.
Anyone currently on the Rancho Cucamonga campus was ordered to stay in place and wait for law enforcement directions.
Classes at Rancho Cucamonga campus were canceled for the remainder of the day. Classes at the Chino and Fontana campuses were being held as scheduled.
