Claremont Cafeteria Worker Pleads Not Guilty To Sex Charges Involving Male Student

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A 33-year-old woman who worked in a high school cafeteria in Claremont pleaded not guilty Monday to felony sex counts involving a male student.

Vanessa Antonia Tinoco, of Pomona, was charged with one felony count each of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation of a person under 18.

According to prosecutors, authorities were alerted by someone concerned about the interaction between Tinoco, who worked in the school's cafeteria, and a male student.

The name of the high school was not disclosed.

Tinoco has been jailed on $70,000 bail since she was arrested Oct. 6 by Claremont police.

If convicted, she could face up to three years and eight months in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Tinoco is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 4, when a date is expected to be set for a hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to go to trial.
