City Apologizes To Sherman Oaks Family After Treehouse Controversy
SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — The city of Los Angeles says it made it mistake when it ordered a Sherman Oaks family to tear down their treehouse.
The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety told the Thorntons that an inspector did not know the treehouse was within code when he or she ordered it to be removed.
Homeowner and father Trevor Thornton told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz that he couldn't believe he might have had to tear down the $10,000 60-square-foot structure with a slide, swings, ropes and a 20-foot beam connecting it to a deck on another tree.
"I'm feeling so revealed. My stomach has been in a knot constantly since yesterday morning," Thornton said.
