Christmas Shoppers Brave The Rain In Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Christmas shoppers braved the rain on Tuesday at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

To their delight, the shoppers found easy parking and short lines to meet Santa.

"We figured the lines would be really low and this would be the perfect day," said Carrie Olson, who brought her new rescue dog to be photographed with Santa.

Many who were waiting in line to meet Santa were holding umbrellas.

Some shoppers took the opportunity to dress for the elements, with rain jackets and hats.

"It's making everyone a little more into the holidays," said Sobia Manjra, who was selling winter hats at a kiosk.

The rain didn't faze some shoppers, however, who showed up in flip-flops.

Forecasters say there is a chance for more showers on Christmas Eve.
