CHP Motorcycle Officer In Justin Trudeau's Motorcade Injured In Crash

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA) — An officer with the California Highway Patrol who was part of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's motorcade while on his visit to California was injured in a crash Friday evening.

The accident happened near East Easy Street and Madera Road in Simi Valley as the motorcade was leaving the Ronald Reagan Library Friday evening. The prime minister had a speaking engagement at the library.

Police say a black vehicle swerved and collided with the motorcycle, but Trudeau's motorcade continued without further incident.

The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-critical injuries.

The prime minister was not in danger at any point.
