Woman Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle In Gardena; Roads Closed For Several Hours

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — California Highway Patrol officials have issued a Sigalert for Vermont Avenue at 149th Street after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian Saturday evening.

The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital at around 6:15 p.m. where she later succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision. Her identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a Toyota Prius.

No information was immediately available on the driver of the Prius.
