CHP Chases Suspect On Motorcycle From Whittier To Corona

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com)  —  The CHP on Thursday evening pursued a suspect on a motorcycle from Whittier to Corona.

The suspect was wanted for excessive speeding and failure to yield, authorities said.

The chase took place on various freeways including the southbound 605 and the westbound 105.

The chase reportedly began in the Whittier area. He went through Glendale and Echo Park. After about 40 minutes, he went eastbound on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim and ended up in Corona.

Officials said they were pursuing the suspect by air and decided not to follow him on the ground, concerned about public safety.

KCAL9's Stu Mundel said at various times the suspect was going in excess of 100 mph as he bobbed and weaved around cars.

The suspect got on and off various freeways and said Mundel "appears to be playing cat-and-mouse" with police.

In Corona, the suspect pulled over possibly out of gas and turned off his lights.

The suspect took off his jacket and helmet and waited patiently for law enforcement to take him into custody.

The unidentified man threw his hands up and got to his knees before being prompted by police. He lay on an off-ramp for several moments before being apprehended.
