CHP Chases Reckless Driving Suspect On 5 Freeway Through Castaic

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The CHP chased a reckless driving suspect into Fort Tejon Wednesday night.

The suspect was also wanted for speeding, authorities said.

The chase started in West Covina and continued on the 5 Freeway into Fort Tejon in Kern County, where it ended sometime before midnight.

The plate was reportedly registered to a rented black 2017 Mercedes  out of Florida.

There are also three occupants in the vehicle.

At one point during the pursuit, the driver turned off his or her lights.

Due to a lack of lights in the Castaic area, it is hard for helicopters to fly at night. KCAL9's Stu Mundel said ground patrols were continuing to chase the suspect.
