Chino Hills Police Nab Driver, 31, Wanted For Attempted Murder In Road Rage Incident

CHINO HILLS (CBSLA.com)  —  Police in Chino Hills arrested a 31-year-old driver they said attempted to kill another motorist in an incident of road rage Saturday.

Authorities said around 6:35 a.m., deputies were called to the area of Pine Avenue and the 71 Freeway regarding an attempted murder.

During an investigation, police determined the victim got into an altercation with a suspect they identified as Eric Fernandez, a Chino Hills resident.

Officials said Fernandez followed the unidentified victim in his black Chevrolet Tahoe at a high rate of speed and rammed the rear of the victim's vehicle twice while going about 50 mph.

As the victim attempted to access the 71 Freeway, Fernandez again rammed the rear of the victim's vehicle. The impact caused the victim to go through a metal guard rail. The victim's vehicle then went down an approximate 60 foot embankment and rolled over approximately two times. The victim suffered major life-threatening injuries, police said.

After putting out an alert that Fernandez was at large, police said they were able to take him into custody following an arrest at his residence.
