Chinatown's Iconic Hop Louie To Close Its Kitchen

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Hop Louie, possibly the most recognizable Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles, is set to close after more than 75 years.

The Chinatown icon, whose five-story pagoda structure has been featured in films such as "Lethal Weapon 4," "Rush Hour" and "I Love You, Man," was founded in 1941. The owners say the kitchen is closing, but its bar will remain open.

Hop Louie is the second Chinatown mainstay to close recently. Empress Pavilion, known for its sumptuous Chinese wedding banquets and dim sum, closed to the public last year and now only opens for private events.
