Hundreds Gather In Downtown LA To Celebrate The Life Of Chester Bennington
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Fans gathered in downtown L.A. Sunday night to celebrate the life of late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington.
Hundreds of people showed up at the fan-organized event at 200 N. Grand Ave., where bands played Linkin Park songs in Bennington's memory.
The rocker was just 41 years old when he was found hanged on July 20. His death was later ruled a suicide.
Fans say his music touched so many lives because of his personal lyrics, which many felt they could relate to.
"You hear this music a lot and then you think you're alone. Then when you come to concerts, or even stuff like this, events, especially local ones, you see all these people, and you're not really alone," one fan said.
Linkin Park's debut album, Hybrid Theory, was released in 2000 and became a huge success. In 2005, it was named the best-selling debut album of the decade.
Bennington is survived by his wife, Talinda Bentley, and six children.
