Chatsworth Man, 76, Sentenced In Hidden Hills Robberies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 76-year-old Chatsworth man was sentenced to 16 years and 10 months in state prison for a series of robberies in the tony neighborhood of Hidden Hills.

Ronald Snyder pleaded no contest Aug. 6 to one count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, first-degree residential burglary, grand theft of personal property, criminal threats, possession of a silencer, possession of a firearm with identification numbers removed, dissuading a witness by force or threat and two counts each of attempted first-degree residential burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors say Snyder robbed homes in Hidden Hills between April and July 2013, including one instance in which he put on a wig and a uniform and claimed to be a sheriff's deputy before going into a victim's home and threatening her with a gun.

The conviction adds a total of six strikes to Snyder's criminal record, prosecutors said.
