Chase Starts Near Disneyland, Ends In Officer-Involved Shooting

ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — A chase that started near Disneyland ended with an officer-involved shooting in Orange Thursday, but it was not immediately clear if anyone was injured, authorities said.

A driver who committed a traffic violation refused to stop for police and led officers on a chase from the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway at Disneyland, California Highway Patrol Officer John Latosquin said.

The suspect, said to be a male Hispanic, got off the freeway and continued to lead police on a chase on surface streets, he said.

The chase ended about 10:45 a.m. at Manchester and Chapman avenues, where shots were fired, but it was unclear if it was a CHP officer or someone from another agency who pulled the trigger. It was also not clear if the suspect was wounded, Latosquin said.
