Chargers Submit Plans For Practice Site And HQ In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — The San Diego Chargers have submitted grading and landscaping plans for a 5-acre parcel in Santa Ana that would include an interim headquarters and practice facility, the team announced Thursday.

The Chargers were granted the right to relocate to Los Angeles by vote of the NFL's ownership earlier this month, and the team is scouting possible locations now should it decide to exercise its option to relocate, a written statement said.

"The franchise is continuing to review all of its options, and no final decision on relocation has been made," the statement said.

It was necessary to submit the grading and landscape plans now, the team said, because of the lead time necessary to secure land-use approvals and to prepare the natural grass practice fields in time for the team's offseason workout schedule.

The vote that allowed the Chargers the option to relocate also approved a move back to Los Angeles the St. Louis Rams, who are expected to play the 2016 back in California after more than 20 years outside the state.
