No Evidence Of Shooting Found At Century City Mall; Bomb Squad Called In

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - The Westfield Century City mall was partially evacuated Friday as police investigated a report of a man with a gun.

The shopping center located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd. was evacuated shortly after 1 p.m., but there was no evidence of any shooting, according to the LAPD.

Just after 1:30 p.m., police reported that anyone at Century City Mall should "remain calm and shelter in place" until officers on scene provide further instructions. Police were conducting a sweep of the area.

A suspicious package was also being evaluated, police said.

Firefighters were dispatched near the mall to assist police if needed, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No injuries or shots fired had been reported, Bastman said.

Employees and shoppers at the mall's H&M clothing store were ushered into a basement area where they sheltered in place for about two hours before the LAPD lifted the order around 2:35 p.m.

CBSLA's Jasmine Viel reported some shoppers and others at the mall recorded video of themselves as they sheltered in place.

A lockdown was ordered at nearby Beverly Hills High School at 241 Moreno Drive, but that order was lifted just before 3 p.m.
