CBS2, KCAL9, KNX 1070 Take Home A Dozen Golden Mikes

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — CBS2, KCAL9 and KNX 1070 Newsradio were recently honored with a dozen Golden Mikes from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California.

The 66th annual Golden Mike Awards, which were announced at a Saturday night ceremony, honored news organizations for excellence in local broadcast journalism.

Winning CBS2 News stories included a David Goldstein investigation into the water waste happening at federal facilities, a feature on a California Highway Patrol officer's recovery from being struck by a car while on duty, and a flight down memory lane that never left the ground.

KCAL 9 News was honored for a feature about military veterans finding refuge in caring for sick and injured birds.

KNX 1070 Newsradio brought home five Golden Mikes for its regular features such as KNX Afternoon News, KNX Traffic on the 5s and KNX Money Hour. Southern California's only 24-hour AM news station was also honored for its breaking news coverage of an officer-involved shooting in Studio City and an in-depth look at drones.
