Caught On Video: Truck Plows Into Bicyclist In East Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities circulated security video Friday of a pickup truck that plowed into a bicyclist in an East Los Angeles crosswalk and never stopped.

The 40-year-old bicyclist suffered a major head injury at about 9:15 p.m. Monday at Arizona Avenue and Olympic Boulevard and was taken to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Authorities say the driver of the Toyota had failed to stop for a red light and turned right onto westbound Olympic Boulevard, colliding with the bicyclist and continuing on without stopping.

The truck was described as a white, mid-1980s Toyota pickup with an extended cab, a metal rack and black graphics along the sides. No description was released of the driver.

Anyone with information on the crash can call CHP Officer Doris Peniche of the East Los Angeles Area office at (323) 980-4600 or the Traffic Management Center at (323) 259-2010 after business hours.
