Caught On Video: Man Allegedly Steals From OC Restaurant's Tip Jar, Tries To Launder Counterfeit Cash

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Orange County police are searching for a thief who's been attempting to launder counterfeit money.

Surveillance video at Bomburger restaurant caught the suspect stealing from the employee tip jar when no one was around, Huntington Beach police report.

When a worker returned to the cash register the suspect allegedly tried to get change for a $100 bill, which turned out to be fake.

Officers say the thief also tried to cash a fake bill earlier in the week at another store. The vendor was able to thwart him with a special marker that detects counterfeit money.

Anyone who has information about the suspect was asked to contact the Huntington Beach Police Department.
