Caught On Camera: Man Steals 9 Propane Tanks From Highland Gas Station

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Monday to identify a man who was caught on camera stealing several propane tanks from a gas station in Highland.

Surveillance video captured the suspect pulling up to Valero gas station, located on Baseline Street, in a white Ford Ranger just after 3 a.m. on Nov. 28, according to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said the driver backed up the truck to the propane cage and placed nine tanks inside while a second suspect distracted the clerk by purchasing items inside the store.

Detectives described the suspect as a Caucasian man who was last seen wearing a black and gray flannel button down jacket with a white T-shirt.

A description of the second suspect was not provided.

According to detectives, the vehicle appears to be a late 1990s or early 2000s model with a camper shell attached.
