Caught On Camera: Elderly Pedestrian Pinned Under Vehicle, Rescued By Detectives

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — An 80-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle remained hospitalized on Monday.

Around 2:20 p.m. on May 5, a vehicle struck the elderly victim as she walked in a parking lot located in the 300 block of Richmond Street, according to the El Segundo Police Department.

Officers explained the woman sustained significant injuries, and was pinned under the rear tire of the vehicle.

"The three detectives, with the assistance of a witness, physically lifted the vehicle and freed the elderly woman," explained Lt. Jamie Bermudez.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of significant injuries to her back and leg. She remains listed in stable condition.

At this time, no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives review surveillance video that captured the collision on camera.
