Cat Killed, 2 People Injured In El Sereno House Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A cat was killed and two people suffered minor injuries in a house fire in El Sereno Thursday.

Firefighters were sent to the 5100 block of Osullivan Drive at 11:18 a.m. and had a handle on the flames within 27 minutes, Los Angeles Fire spokesman Erik Scott said.

Firefighters encountered packrat conditions and "multiple cats" at the scene, and one died, Scott said.

Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
