Carjacking Suspect Taken Into Custody After El Monte Chase

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A carjacking suspect who led authorities on a chase that ended in El Monte was in custody Tuesday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies chased the suspect driving a van along the 10 and 605 freeways shortly before 1 p.m., according to officials.

After about 15 minutes, the van's left front tire blew out and it crashed. The driver exited the vehicle and tried to run off, but was quickly taken into custody outside a Taco Bell restaurant in El Monte.

His name was not immediately released.

No injuries were reported.
