Toddlers Abducted In Carjacking Found Safe In Desert Hot Springs

DESERT HOT SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Two boys, who were abducted during a car theft in Cathedral City, have been found unharmed, authorities announced Friday.

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies said they found 2-year-old Carlos Cortez and 1-year-old Jayden in their babysitter's white 2016 four-door Honda Accord in Desert Hot Springs, which is 15 miles north of Cathedral City.

The toddlers, who were the subjects of an Amber Alert, were located seven and a half hours after they were reported missing.

The brothers were inside when the car was stolen Thursday shortly before 7 p.m. in the 31500 block of Whispering Palms Terrace.

Cathedral City police said the babysitter had stepped out for an errand when the vehicle was taken.
