Goose With Arrow In Its Neck Dies After Surgery
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — An Egyptian goose with an arrow through its neck that had been seen wandering the Anaheim Hills area died Wednesday after having undergone surgery to remove the arrow.
An employee of a car wash located near where the goose had been spotted in recent weeks finally caught the bird Wednesday, after days of failed attempts by Orange County Animal Care (OCAC) officials, according to reports.
The unidentified employee had kept the bird in an office at the car wash until county animal control officials came to retrieve it.
Officials told CBS2/KCAL9's Laurie Perez the goose was to be sent to a wildlife rehabilitation facility until it was well enough to release again.
"As long as everything is healthy inside, it'll just be just a matter of healing," said OCAC's Dr. Kristi Krause. "He's been doing really well so I don't think there's gonna be a lot of rehab left."
The bird was believed to have been shot with the arrow about two weeks ago.

It remains unclear who shot the arrow, but authorities say if a shooter is identified, that person may face multiple charges.
"They should be caught and incarcerated for it," Chino Hills resident Heather Grant said. "Animal abuse is disgusting."
