Minivan Slams Into Tax Prep Business In Lynwood

LYNWOOD (CBSLA) – A minivan destroyed the front entrance of a tax preparation business in Lynwood after careening into the building early Monday morning.

At about 6:40 a.m., a vehicle slammed into EZ Tax Refund located at 3634 East Imperial Hwy., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said the female driver was headed down Imperial Highway, lost control, hopped the curb and slammed into the business.

"The lady was shaken up when she crashed, just all the mess that we've got to clean up now," said Chris Contreras, who owns EZ Tax Refund.

Footage from the scene showed the front of the store completely exposed, with shattered glass and debris strewn across the ground. The impact was so strong that a couple cement curb stops in front of the store were also destroyed.

The driver was unhurt and will not be cited because investigators determined it was an accident.

The crash also took out a wall shared between EZ Tax Refund and El Botanitas restaurant, which was slated to open next month, but has now been forced to push back it's opening date.

"We're about to start building it, it's a new business, we've had this contract for three months, and now I don't know what we're gonna do," El Botanitas owner Karina Razo told CBS2.
