Car Plunges Into Lincoln Park Lake In East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Authorities are investigating the mysterious circumstances under which a car drove into Lincoln Park Lake in East Los Angeles early Monday morning.

Just after midnight, L.A. police officers and firefighters were called to the lake on a report that a car had driven into the lake and gotten submerged.

The park is located at the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Mission Road.

At around 6 a.m., L.A. Fire Department divers pulled an Audi sedan out of the lake. No one was inside.

Divers were searching the waters for a possible driver or passengers, but had not yet found any victims, fire officials at the scene told CBSLA.

The circumstances of how the car got into the lake were not confirmed. There was also no word on who owns the car or whether it had been reported stolen.
