Car Crashes Into Glendale YMCA Building, Damages Natural Gas Line

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A car Tuesday crashed into a YMCA building following a two-vehicle collision, damaging a natural gas line and a meter that serviced the structure.

A spokesperson for the Glendale Police Department said the traffic accident occurred at North Louise Street and East Wilson Avenue at 2:30 p.m.

Police say the building was evacuated as well as a 200ft perimeter.

Southern California Gas Company spokesperson Anne Silva told CBSLA.com a natural gas meter and a house line for the YMCA were damaged but there is no danger to the public. Crews are working to replace the meter for the YMCA.

Workers in offices above could be seen exiting the building from SKY9.

Police say the driver's accelerator got stuck under a floor mat as she left a parking structure. She collided with another vehicle before hitting the building.

No injuries were reported.
