Canyon Country Woman Charged With Shooting Brother To Death

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Canyon Country woman was charged Tuesday with murder and attempted murder in the shootings that killed her brother and injured her father and another man.

Jessica Paige Greenback, 25, pleaded not guilty to one count each of murder, child abuse and false imprisonment by violence and two counts of attempted murder.

The shooting happened on Feb. 8 in the apartment Greenback shared with her brother, Johnnie, her father and 5-year-old sister. Prosecutors say Greenback shot her brother to death, shot her father in head and shot at her father's friend who had spent the night at the residence.

Greenback is also accused of not allowing her sister to leave the room where the shooting took place, prosecutors said.

A semi-automatic handgun was found at the scene.

Greenback, who is being held on $6.1 million bail, is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 26 to get a preliminary hearing date.

If convicted as charged, Greenback faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison.
