Caltrans Urges Drivers To Avoid 210 Freeway In Pasadena This Weekend

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — The westbound Foothill (210) Freeway will be closed for 55 hours this weekend to accommodate pavement repairs, and officials say drivers should plan alternate routes now to avoid the closure.

The freeway will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday between Lake Avenue and Mountain Street, along with the eastbound ramp from the Ventura (134) Freeway to the westbound 210, the westbound 210 offramps at Marengo Avenue and Mountain Street and the Walnut Street on-ramp.

The closures are expected to last until 5 a.m. Monday, but will be repeated the weekend of July 29-Aug. 1.

According to Caltrans, the freeway's use as a major connector between Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties means the "road has experienced extensive wear."

The work is part of a $148.5 million pavement rehabilitation project in both directions of the I-210 in the cities of Glendale, La Canada Flintridge and Pasadena. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
