CBS News Los Angeles

A California Highway Patrol pursuit ended in a standoff near the Mid-City area on Friday morning.

The pursuit began around 5:15 a.m. on the northbound 404 Freeway at Moraga Drive in West Los Angeles. The CHP said the driver was wanted for allegedly driving recklessly and for making an illegal U-turn.

SkyCal flew over the pursuit around 5:30 a.m., where the driver could be seen traveling at a high rate of speed on the southbound 101 Freeway.

The driver was also seen serving through lanes, nearly hitting other cars before exiting the freeway and continuing on surface streets. The pursuit ended near the intersection of La Cienega Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard in a standoff with police.

Officers smashed the back window to try and communicate with the driver, who appeared to be acting erratically when they came to a stop on the sidewalk.

The driver was taken into custody and there were no reports of any injuries during the incident.
