Cal Receiver Injured In UCLA Game Released From Hospital

BERKELEY (AP) — California receiver Trevor Davis has been released from the hospital after he was hurt on a kickoff return.

Davis was removed from the field on a stretcher in the fourth quarter Saturday against UCLA. He was taken to the hospital for tests before being released around midnight.

Davis stayed down on the turf for a long time after appearing to take a knee to the helmet as he was tackled. While the trainers were tending to him, Davis' teammates kneeled on the field and the crowd chanted "Tre-vor Da-vis! Tre-vor Da-vis!"

Davis was able to move his legs and talk. He gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he was taken away on a cart.

Cal lost the game 36-34.
