Man Released After Bizarre Bomb Scare On Bus In Norwalk

NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — A man who was the focus of a bizarre bomb scare in Norwalk has been released and the scene cleared.

The situation Monday night unfolded at a bus station on Imperial Highway and Bloomfield Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.

The incident happened after the bus driver thought he saw a passenger with something that looked like a grenade.

The bus was subsequently evacuated and the man was ordered by deputies to remove his clothes in the middle of a transit center.

A woman, who lives nearby, heard authorities give those commands.

"We started hearing the helicopter say, 'Take off your jacket. Remove your shirt. Move back three steps, then move back 10 steps.' We were a little afraid. We're still afraid," she said. "Our complex is right behind that."

The man was released after deputies determined no threat had been found.
