Two Hurt After Buses Collide On Rain-Slicked LA Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - Wet weather may have caused a commuter bus to crash into a second bus Thursday along the 10 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles, leaving two people hurt, authorities said.

The collision occurred just before 11 a.m. along the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway near Soto Street in the Boyle Heights area, according to fire officials.

A Greyhound intercity bus hit the rear of a Foothill Transit "Silver Streak" line commuter bus, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. About 40 people were on the two buses.

About 30 minutes earlier, a pickup truck had crashed down an embankment from the westbound freeway near Soto Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported in that crash.

An unspecified number of people were transported for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, the LAFD reported.
