Hit-And-Run Driver Wanted In Watts Bus, Car Collision
WATTS (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver that may have caused a car to crash into a school bus Thursday morning in Watts, critically injuring at least one person.
The crash was first reported at about 7:14 a.m. at 103rd and Compton Avenue in Watts, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Mother Tasha Shelton said her 12-year-old daughter was on the bus, which was making a stop at Markham Middle School, with five other students who were on their way to Stephen White Middle School.
At least one person was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by firefighters. A second person in the car was also taken to the hospital.
Nelson Godoy said the two people in the car, a black Mitsubishi, were his daughters and that his 23-year-old was driving when her car was rear-ended, causing the car to spin three times and hit the bus. The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No children on the bus were seriously injured, but a 12-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
