Burglars Steal Tabernacle, Other Sacred Items From LA Church

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The public's help is needed Friday to help find the suspects who burglarized a church west of downtown Los Angeles.

Santo Tomas Church, 2760 W. Pico Blvd., was burglarized between 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The burglars took items considered to religiously significant, including the Tabernacle, a liturgical furnishing used to house the Eucharist outside of Mass, viewed as one of the most sacred items in a Catholic church.
