Brush Fire Burns Close To Homes In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A fast-growing brush fire threatened homes Sunday afternoon in the Box Springs Mountain area of Riverside. The fire broke out about 4 p.m. and quickly grew from 200 to 1000 acres.

Some of the flames got as close as 15 feet to a driveway, KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo reported. Several roads and driveways are covered in red retardant, indications of an aggressive fire fight.

Riverside County Fire Department in cooperation with CAL FIRE had the blaze pretty much out by 10 p.m. The cause has not been determined.
