Small Brush Fire Burns Near 5 Freeway In Castaic

CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — Crews doused a small brush fire burning Tuesday near the 5 Freeway in the Castaic area, authorities said.

The roughly three-acre blaze was running uphill along heavy brush near the "Upper Crossover" of the southbound Golden State
Freeway, according to a Los Angeles County Fire official.

No injuries were reported.

U.S. Forest Service and L.A. County Fire crews had the fire nearly extinguished around 11:30 a.m.

The southbound 5 Freeway was closed in the area as a precaution, but was returning to normal, according to California Highway Patrol.
