Brush Fire Burns In Los Padres National Forest Near Ojai

OJAI (CBSLA.com) — A brush fire spread to 100 acres near Ojai in Ventura County on Sunday afternoon.

Ventura County Firefighters responded to the fire, near the 22000 block of Maricopa Highway in the Los Padres National Forest, around 1:15 p.m.

Just before 3 p.m., the fire had burned 50 to 75-acres, but had spread to about 100 acres by 3:30 p.m.

The fire is burning about eight miles north of Ojai.

Gordon Spencer, reporting in Sky2, said the fire is being battled by CalFire and Ventura County Fire departments.

He said there are at least ten tankers fighting the blaze.

The fire is burning in an eastward direction and Spencer reported there are no homes or structures in line of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.
