Brown Has Nearly $21M For Governor's Race

SACRAMENTO (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown is reporting that he has nearly $21 million in the bank for his re-election campaign, even though he faces no serious competition for the top spot in the June 3 primary.

Brown reported Tuesday that he has raised nearly $4 million this year from a variety of interests and spent just $77,000, mostly for campaign consultants and staff.

The Democratic governor is expected to easily win one of the top two spots in the primary and advance to November.

Two Republicans, former U.S. Treasury official Neel Kashkari and Twin Peaks Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, are vying for second place. They have until midnight Thursday to file their fundraising reports.

Kashkari has given his campaign $2 million of his own money in the last month.
