Broken Water Main Floods Santa Ana Neighborhood

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County neighborhood was flooded early Friday morning after a water main broke.

The 12-inch cast-iron pipe burst around 1:40 a.m. in the 700 block of West Pomona Street in Santa Ana.

Santa Ana police and Orange County Fire responded to the scene, but were initially unable to shut off the broken main.

Public Works officials were eventually able to turn the water off at 2 a.m., leaving soaked and muddy streets.

Two homes were without water, but neither were damaged, officials said.

Repairs were expected to last much of Friday.
