Driver Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Through Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested at gunpoint Monday night after leading police on a pursuit through downtown Los Angeles.

The driver was in a Ford Mustang that may have been stolen. He hit speeds as high as 80 mph on narrow downtown streets.

The driver nearly struck at least two other vehicles and ran red lights.

The driver drove onto a sidewalk and nearly hit a pedestrian.

The driver jumped out of the car and ran through an alley in Exposition Park just before 9 p.m. He surrendered to police a few minutes later.

Earlier, a passenger bailed out of the car and was arrested.
