Boyle Heights Apartment Fire Probed After Apparent Molotov Cocktail Attack

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Arson investigators Monday were looking into an alleged Molotov cocktail incident in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

Police and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a reported attack at a two-story apartment building in the 1300 block of Vanegas Lane around 12:45 a.m., according to LAFD spokesman Cody Weireter.

Crews managed to douse the flames in about eight minutes, he said.

Weireter told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO investigators were called in after it appeared the the fire started outside the apartment house and spread to at least one unit inside the building.

"Because of the suspicious nature of the fire, our arson unit was called in and they're handling the investigation at this time," Weireter said.

There were no reported injuries.
