Boyfriend Charged In Fatal Stabbing Of Mother Of 3 In Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A 41-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing his girlfriend was charged on Monday.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Osmar Gomez faced one count of murder and a special allegation that he personally used a box cutter, which is considered a deadly and dangerous weapon.

Prosecutors said Gomez is accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend on Tuesday while she sat in the front passenger seat of a truck, located in an alley near Lemay Street and Kester Avenue.

She was later identified by authorities as Klaudia Alas, a mother of three.

He was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

If convicted, Gomez faces up to life in state prison.

Prosecutors have recommended his bail be set at $1 million.
