Girl, 2, Burned By Smoldering Coals In Fire Pit At Dockweiler State Beach

PLAYA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — A 2-year-old girl was burned by smoldering coals in a fire pit at a Playa Del Rey beach Saturday, according to fire officials.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to an area near Tower 56 at Dockweiler State Beach, located in the 12000 block of Vista del Mar, shortly after 2 p.m., according to public information officer Brian Jordan.

The child sustained burns to both of her hands and feet. She remains hospitalized in stable condition, and will be later transported to a local burn center.

Police said the burning coals were left in a fir pit that was used by beach goers on Friday evening.
