Boy, 14, Leads Police Pursuit In Sylmar Area Before Crashing

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles authorities say the driver of a pickup truck that crashed following a police pursuit was a 14-year-old boy.

Police Sgt. James Bender says the chase began around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Polk Street and Bradley Avenue in Sylmar and ended about 20 minutes later at Nordhoff Street and Langdon Avenue, when the suspect crashed into another vehicle.

Bender says the boy was briefly taken to a hospital and then released back into police custody. Officials didn't identify him or say what charges he might face.

No other injuries were reported.
