5 Freeway Reopened After Full Closure In Commerce

COMMERCE (CBSLA) — A report of a person threatening to jump from a railroad freeway overpass shut down the 5 Freeway in both directions in Commerce.

A Sigalert was issued for the 5 Freeway just before 11 a.m. Northbound traffic was diverted off the freeway at the 605 Freeway, while southbound traffic was redirected onto the 710 Freeway.

The freeway was shut down due to a pedestrian on the Simmons railroad underpass threatening to jump onto the southbound lanes. All railroad traffic on the tracks was also stopped.

The Sigalert was cancelled at 1:30 p.m., and both north and southbound lanes were reopened.
