Border Patrol Agent Accused In Killing Pleads Not Guilty

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — A U.S. border patrol agent entered a not guilty plea Wednesday in connection with a deadly off-duty dispute last month.

John Richard Demery, 40, of Hemet is accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Adam Thomas during an early morning dispute in Hemet, authorities said.

The prosecutor's office said a speeding or racing incident may have sparked the deadly confrontation on Nov. 8.

Demery is being held on $1 million bail.

He is due back in court next month.
